Two Keys to Happiness

There are many paths to a Higher Power and many books written about having a deeper spiritual connection to Whatever one believes. Whichever path you choose, there are some ideas that all have in common. These similar principles that are found in any book on emotional and spiritual growth are what I call “Big Ideas”. They are things we cannot ignore if we want to grow as a human being.

Two of these are forgiveness and gratitude. Without forgiveness and gratitude, we can easily get bogged down in the problem instead of the solution. If your life seems to be in a rut, you feel stuck, or if you are just not as happy as you would like to be – try doing forgiveness work and gratitude lists.

Is there someone who you need to forgive or is there someone you need to ask forgiveness from? Now is the time because as long as we hold onto to resentment we are only punishing ourselves.

What about gratitude? Can you find things to be grateful for no matter what life is giving you? A fun exercise is an A to Z gratitude list. Yes, that means letters like X and Z. It is fun and it will take your mind away from self-pity and feeling helpless and hopeless.
