The hero’s journey is a story of the journey we all take at one time or another. It is a classic story that goes back to when humans began first began telling stories.
In the Hero’s Journey, the hero leaves his home in search of treasure, or adventure, but ends up finding his or her True Self. We not only find this story in action movies, novels, comics, etc. but also in the Bible.
The Parable of the Prodigal Son is the story of a hero’s journey and it is popular because most of us can relate to one of the characters. At one time or another in our all lives we have either been the prodigal son, the older brother, or the father.
The part we relate to depends on whether we are the one who wandered away, stayed home and did what we were supposed to do, or forgave someone who hurt us.
This parable is very popular because it touches everyone’s life. This is a story about forgiveness and encourages us to repair hurts we may have caused.
So are you the one who has to forgive someone – or what they did or did not do? Perhaps you need to forgive yourself. Whatever part you played, if you practice the art of forgiveness, you will have a new lease on life.
