In So. Cal June is known for its June gloom. While most of the country is experiencing the beginning of summer, the normal sunny skies are often gray and the temperatures can be as low as the 60’s during the day and 50’s at night.
For me, I really enjoy this weather. Having lived in the south for so many years where summer (hot, humid, and buggy) usually runs from May to October, having an extra month of spring/fall type of weather is nice.
To bring sunshine to this June gloom our congregation is doing Random of Acts of Kindness during the month. It might not change the weather but it sure is a great way to bring sunshine into the world in spite of the weather.
Kindness and compassion are always powerful tools, to not just make someone’s day, but to make a change in the world, one person at a time, one act at a time, one gesture at a time.
Besides making a difference in another person’s life, it makes our own lives filled with more sunshine no matter what the weather outside might be.
Quote of the Week
“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
Henry James
