Pain in Progress

Have you ever noticed that things seem to get worse before they get better?  This is especially true when we are first introduced to a new way , of thinking, seeing  and being.

In Unity it is called chemicalization.  In the book, Lessons in Truth, Emily Cady compares it to putting soda into sour milk or other acid fluid.   When that is done, there is an agitation that takes place as one of the substances neutralizes the other the result of which is something better.

The same is true with a washing machine.  We put dirty clothes in and they become clean.  However, if all you did was fill it with water, add detergent, and then take them out they would not be very clean.  What cleans them is the agitation cycle and so it is with us.  It is the times of agitation that really help us to grow and become all that we were created to be.

So the next time you are going through a difficult time, things seem to be going all wrong – celebrate because your Higher Power is removing all the old stuff that is keeping you stuck so you can truly blossom into your true nature.
