June is GLBT Month

June is GLBT Pride month; it is time to take a positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. It is also an opportunity to openly and publicly promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance.

It is, also, of importance to everyone, whether or not, he or she is GLBT. Anytime a group of people is discriminated against or abused because of their gender, age, sex, sexual preferences, or physical challenges, it is an affront to everyone.

We are all one, One in Spirit, one in our humanness, one in our Divinity and one in our uniqueness. If you have ever suffered hatred and/or discrimination for who you are, you know that it is a blow to the very core of your being.

Let’s remember, this month, that we are created by the same Creator so if we judge another, we are not diminishing them as much as we diminish ourselves.

Quote of the Week
“When all Americans are treated as equal, no matter who they are or whom they love, we are all more free.”–Barack Obama
