Last week I did a memorial service for a 52-year old woman. As her friends and family shared about her, I thought, “Well she lived a full life!”. The song the woman’s mother picked for the final one was the old classic, “I Did It My Way”. It was the perfect song for the woman whose life we were celebrating.
I have always believed, and the service only reinforced that belief, that the best we can do with our lives is to live life fully, joyfully, abundantly. Not doing so is taking a gift from God and throwing it away. It was sad to see a life so full cut short so quickly but the thing I remember most was that at least she lived life to it’s fullest.
Too many people live lives of “quiet desperation”. They throw away the precious gift of life complaining about everything, never seeing the good that is all around them, and never taking chances in life because of fear or procrastination. At that service I reaffirmed my desire to live life as much as I can for as long as I can.
What about you? Are you always going to play things safe, never taking any chances, never reaching for the moon? Well today is the first day of the rest of your life so push yourself a little further, do something challenging, follow the teachings of Jesus and live life and live it abundantly.
There is a saying “Reach for the moon, even if you fall short you’ll land among the stars.” Life is not meant to be endured but to be enjoyed! Let’s go for it!
This Weeks Quote
“You can’t do passion halfway. Living your passion means you’re all in. You trust your heart and trust your gut wherever that takes you.”
