We just celebrated Valentine’s Day, and although we often attach this day to romantic love, there are many ways to show someone you care about them – other than romantically.
One way is through friendship – because true friendship is about caring enough for someone, that you put their well-being ahead of yours. It is that kind of friendship that should truly be celebrated.
On Valentine’s Day this year, I was blessed to be the recipient of such friendship. Christopher and I decided to get some fresh air to celebrate Valentine’s Day and as he was helping me onto a chair, his back went out, and he fell with me falling right after. There we were, both on the ground, him not being able to get up because of pain, and me not being able to get from the ground onto my scooter.
On top of it all, both our phones were in the house. I had to crawl through the house to reach mine and I called my friend Tina,
Within minutes she and her friend were there getting Christopher up and into the house. I had called our friend, John, right after Tina. He dropped everything and came over to help and take care of both Christopher and myself and has stayed with us ever since.
No matter how many times I may be the recipient of such love and friendship, I never stop being grateful for such friendship, such love. So, this Valentine’s Day I not only got to spend it with the man I love but two friends who remind me that God is always working through our life, if not directly then through the angels he sends to us to be His hands and feet in the flesh.
I thank God that he has blessed me with such angels as these, and I only hope that one day, I can be that angel to someone else.
Quote of the Week
“It’s the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter.”
