Too often the turkey we had for dinner on Thanksgiving lasts longer than the gratitude that we felt. We soon become involved with shopping, decorating, going to parties and often filled with stress from the holiday season. That is a shame because one of the greatest tools we have for dealing with stress not to mention loneliness, depression, self-pity and selfishness is gratitude.
Gratitude is something that only increases the more we express it. Often we are grateful for the things that we have, the people in our lives, our health, etc. but we don’t take time to express our gratitude to the source of all our blessings.
I invite you to take time over the next 365 days to spend a moment each day to be grateful for your Higher Power. When we spend time in gratitude for our relationship with the God of our understanding, we deepen that relationship and the benefits we receive from it.
We know that gratitude increases our awareness of all we have to be grateful for. Consequently, when we spend time in gratitude for the Presence that is present in our life, we deepen that relationship and we are blessed in ways beyond our comprehension.
