Are you a gracious person?

The other day I was talking to a friend and mentioned to her that she was one of the most gracious people I knew.

We all know people like that – they are kind, courteous, do not gossip or talk about others, they look for the good in everything, they are compassionate and very giving.  Imagine what twoman in prayerhe world could be like if everyone tried to be gracious in their life.

My friend stands out because there are few like that.  Many are selfish and self centered. Their favorite topic is, “what’s wrong in my life”, or negative statements about other people.  We all know people like that – they try to bring us down and the rest of the world as well.

Since light overcomes darkness, if there were more gracious people (light) in the world, there would be less negativity (darkness), violence, prejudice and criticism.  I know this may seem a bit idealistic, but I believe it is possible.  One way is if each of us said to ourselves, “Today I am going to be gracious in all situations and to all I meet.”

If we are gracious to others, they, also, will become more gracious, and a little at a time, we can make a difference.  Will you be gracious today?
