Do you appreciate the people in your life, the things you have, what has happened or not happened in your life?  What does it mean to appreciate something?  Is it the same as gratitude?  One definition “appreciate” is to be grateful or thankful for – so in that respect it is the same.  

However, there is a second definition and that one means “to value or regard highly”. The definition of gratitude says nothing about the value or regard we have for what we are grateful for.

So we may feel grateful say for our health but do we appreciate our bodies and how they function and provide for us a way of life?  We may feel gratitude for people in our life but sometimes we don’t take the time (until we no longer have it), to really appreciate them. 

This week, take time to appreciate all that you are grateful for in your life. 

Take time to appreciate a sunset, the home you live in, and most importantly the people in your life.
